Hello Games back on track after floods

The mobile game developing studio, Hello Games, was ravaged by floods on Christmas Eve 2013. However, with much determination and enthusiasm for their trade, the app developers did not give up and it was announced that their next title was not even delayed. Their forthcoming game dubbed No Man's Sky is now a work-in-progress and will be delivered as predicted. After the wreck of their work place, the team was assembled in a makeshift location where development was still going on smoothly. Mobile gamers who have seen the announcement trailer of No Man’s Sky can surely not deny the fact that something rather spectacular is about to hit the download stores. Stay tuned!

Little Big Mansion will land on iOS soon

The mobile game had a planned release for early 2014 and the developers shall keep their promise. According to a Krisjet Game Design announcement on its official website, the title is now in its refinement phase and will hence be ready at any time. This puzzle platformer is actually about two magicians on a quest to uncover the secrets of a mansion. Players will hence be seen resizing and moving boxes around as well as solving puzzles.

King.com now has trademark rights for ‘Candy’.

The application by Candy Crush Saga’s developer, King.com, to gain full rights on the word ‘Candy’ has finally been granted. The US Patent and Trademark Office has approved the proposal a few days ago and King.com will hence have the right to sue those using the word ‘Candy’ as an app title or in whatever ways. However, third party application developers still have the right to oppose this registration in case it might jeopardize their business. The Candy trademark will obviously aim at bringing more revenue for the propagation of the brand. Stay tuned for further news on the matter.

The developers behind the stress relieving mobile game, Surgeon Simulator 2013, are likely to hit again. A new application is now under development and a hint was given to fans and gamers in general via a YouTube video. Bossa Studios named the forthcoming title Surgeon Simulator: Malpractice Makes Perfect and as the name suggests it will come with a fair dose of dentistry. The game will be released as an iOS exclusive iPad game and will hopefully not disappoint!

Moonbot Studios releases its latest title for iOS exclusively.

Moonbot Studios seem to be following the trend and has now launched its latest game as an iOS exclusive title. Lollipop 3: Eggs of Doom is a free-to-play game and will surely bring joy and laughter to younger gamers. Players will be challenged to catch all the evil eggs falling from space and hatch them to unleash magnificent creatures. With this brand new game, Moonbot is looking to renew its feats and hopefully bag itself another Oscar.

Less than half of Rovio’s workforce are developers.

In its quest to make a name in fields other than mobile gaming, Rovio has been spending massively into the reinforcement of the Angry Birds franchise. The latter can now be seen in cartoon series, books, toys and so on and it’s all part of a solid diversification process triggered after the mega success of the Angry Birds series of mobile games. However, it has now been announced that with an effective of nearly 800 employees, less than half are into the developments of games. The large majority of the workforce is into the proliferation of the brand. Yet, according to Jami Laes, executive vice president of games, “… games will always be at the core of Rovio. That's our heritage.”

Fowl Moon Studios releasing a new card collecting game.

Apple App Store will be hosting a new card collecting game as from spring this year. The application is being developed by Fowl Moon Studios and will be exclusive to iOS devices. The title dubbed Betty Boop Dance Card will feature the 1930s glamorous cartoon character, Betty Boop. This rhythm action game will also come with 20 original songs from the cartoon’s musical legacy.

Ultimate Gay Fighter releasing as a multiplatformer

Indie developer Michael Patrick is now working on a rather unique game. The latter, dubbed Ultimate Gay Fighter, is likely to hit stores later this month and is set to be an epic fighting title. In an interview, Mr. Patrick has announced that the application will be released on the Android, iOS and Windows Phone Store. Moreover, an announcement trailer released to showcase the characters and some of the action can now be viewed on the game’s official YouTube channel. Also note that to tactfully add humour and to further differentiate his game from its Mortal Combat counterpart, Michael Patrick has redubbed ‘Fatalities’ as ‘Gaytalities’. Isn’t this just hilarious?

R.B.I. Baseball 14 to be released on Smartphones and tablets

After nearly 2 decades off the gaming arena, R.B.I Baseball is now being rebooted for tablets and smartphones. The game is being developed by MLB Advanced Media and shall hit the download stores at some point in spring. However, nothing much has yet been revealed about R.B.I. Baseball 14. It is hence not clear whether it will be a simulation or arcade baseball game. Stay tuned for more!
